Behaviour Management
Ensuring staff are trained and prepared to deal with various types of behaviours is essential to a successful summer. MCA Accredited Camps are expected to be inclusive (refer to Standards I1-I5).
Non Violent Crisis Intervention
The emphasis is on early intervention and non-physical methods for preventing or managing disruptive behaviour.
Collaborative Problem Solving
The CPS model has been shown to be an effective way to reduce conflict and teach the skills campers need to function adaptively in the real world.
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
This course includes:

Preventing crises from occurring.

De-escalating potential crises.

Effectively managing acute crisis phases.

Reducing potential and actual injury to children and staff.

Learning constructive ways to handle stressful situations.

Developing a learning circle within the organization.
Trains youth leaders to recognize, understand and respond to issues of Abuse, Bullying and Harassment.
Provides participants with nationally recognized certification that will assist them in working with children's programs in the sport and recreation industry.
