Accreditation Process
The process of becoming an accredited camp and maintaining that status requires the following:
-
Current MCA Standards Manual must be completed and submitted to the MCA prior to the visit.
-
The visiting team will work with you to select a date where full program operations are taking place. This visit includes a full tour and a review of written documentation.
-
The visiting team will consist of no less than two qualified people that are members of the MCA Standards and Accreditation Committee.
-
The visiting team must be present for one camp meal.
-
The committee will prepare a report summarizing information and providing feedback from the site visit and review of documentation. Camps will have 30 days (unless otherwise specified) to make necessary changes if required as identified in the report.
-
Once accreditation or reaccreditation is granted, the camp will be provided with a certificate of accreditation valid for three years.
-
Camps not satisfied with their results may request a review, at which time they have the option to present their case to the MCA Board of Directors in person.
-
A repeat of the visitation process is required at least every three years (re-accreditation visits may take place in less than 3-years based on various factors determined by the MCA Board).
Camps must ensure each year the following are obtained and displayed:
1. ANNUAL PERMIT TO OPERATE CAMP
2. PROVINCIAL HEALTH LICENCE FOR KITCHEN
3. PROVINCIAL HEALTH LICENCE FOR POOL (if applicable)
